Hi, my name is Slim and I was brought to a North Carolina animal shelter as a stray. I was there for several weeks and I got so nervous that I developed a very large hot spot. The veterinary team got me on my way to recovery and Saving Carolina Dogs stepped in to rescue me since they knew I was a very good boy.
I’m between 1 and 2 years old, weigh 49 pounds, am up to date on all of my vaccinations, mircrochipped, and neutered. I am house broken and am getting used to being in my crate while my foster family is not home since I still like to do puppy things when I’m not supervised, but I try to stick to my chew toys. I don’t always get it right. I am a heavy chewer and will need lots of options to keep me busy.
I am very smart and know sit and stay. I also understand when i am being corrected and i come when I respond when my foster family calls my name. I am working on walking on my leash. I love walking to pick up my foster sister from school in the afternoons and take a short nap after. I also like snuggling and listening to her bedtime stories and following her around. I also love to play ball. I am working or dropping the ball when I bring it back but my foster mom has worked out a system with 2 balls to keep me running.
I have a lot of energy but I am learning the rules of my house quickly and to respect my foster fur brothers and sisters spaces. My feline foster sister puts me in my place so I know where her limits are. I don’t chase her or anything like that. I just want to get to know her but she is moody… I would do very well with obedience training to work on my manners and could probably even do well on agility or fly ball since I’m really fast and athletic, but really I mostly just like being around my foster mom and dad. I am also working on my confidence around new people. My foster mom thinks someone treated me bad in my past so I am a little scared of men I don’t know and let them know I’m scared. My foster dad has helped me with lots of love and of course treats but we are still working on that. I hope you will give me a chance to be a part of your family. Love, Slim
